Ms. Cornejo was born and raised in Southern California. Growing up she was passionate about helping others and strived to make an impact on society. Ms. Cornejo volunteered at St. Francis Hospital, American Heart Association, and in a local hospital in San Jose, Costa Rica. After earning her Community Health Science degree from California State University, Long Beach she decided she wanted to continue helping others but in a different way; by providing our society’s youth a quality education that would open doors in their future. She then decided to pursue the teaching profession in Dallas, Texas. While in Dallas she taught Bilingual Kindergarten at Eladio R. Martinez Learning Center. During this time Ms. Cornejo witnessed the impact of a quality education for students living in impoverished neighborhoods. Ms. Cornejo moved back home this summer and is elated to be working at Equitas Academy 3 and strives to provide her scholars the excellent education they deserve. In order to close the achievement gap, she will ensure that she reaches every scholar that walks into her classroom and instills a genuine love for learning in each one so that they, too, have access to a 4-year university with the skill sets necessary for college and life success. Some of her hobbies include arts and crafts, traveling, and most importantly spending quality time with her son. In her travels, she collects snow globes from the various cities she’s explored.
